This is the beginning of our "high holidays": MLK, Chinese New Year, Valentines. In their own ways each is about love, the most important thing to celebrate!
I'd urge everyone to play a recording of MLK speaking to their kids. I've done it for the last few years and am amazed at how it focuses the kids. They sit quietly and listen like no body's business. This year, they started spontaneously applauding along with the recorded audience. When I turned it off because I thought they'd had enough, they asked me to turn it back on. This has happened two years in a row. It's really quite powerful.
