Silverlicious Game Board Review....

My five year old is a HUGE Pinkalicious fan.  We loved the Silverlicious book and were excited to try this game.  The game board and its pieces are very attractive just like the Pinkalicious stories. However; game play of this game is not “so easy-licious”…  Too bad they didn’t ask for assistance from a mom with a four to five year old when creating this game…  However, we changed the rules to the game and then had a great time playing.  If your child cannot read, you will need to play with them for sure.  You must read each card to know what to do while playing the game.
Here is how we played.  There are three paths that one of three pieces can choose to follow to the end of the game.   Have each player choose a piece.  They follow that path to the top to win.  Before they can win they need to collect four silver coins along the way.  They pick cards from their pile (each player should pick a pile of cards to draw from) along the way that tells them what to do.  Once they make it to the top of the board game play is over and they are the winner.  The cards are very cute and ask each player to do cute things… like draw Toothina, tell the name of Cupid in Silverlicious, write a note to a family member about why you love them, or say something nice to a player…  Once you complete the task on the card, the card tells you how many spaces to move.  We enjoyed the game playing it  this way and have played it many times.  I would recommend the game if you don’t mind making up your own rules for game play.  The board and playing pieces were well thought out but the game rules are a little difficult.  I would still purchase this game for a Pinkalicious fan, I would just play it differently.

Lego Car Race Party Game

One of the games we had the kids play was having them build a Lego Race Car.  They all got a race car as part of their favors (only five boys, so it was affordable at around 6.00 each).

As soon as the kids came to the door, my son directed them to pick a car, open it up, place the pieces in their bowl, and then start building.
They all were into making their cars.  Give 8 year olds a Lego set and you get a quiet room!!!

After they finished the cars, they got to race them on a Lego Race track I made.  I just used two pieces of thick poster board and designed a road with construction paper and graphics I found online.

I put the board on a plastic table with one side of the legs set up for the ramp.  They spent 45 minutes just playing with this and racing their cars.  It was a hit!!!

Here they are in action:

Turning Four!

It is hard to believe that our Cindy Lou Who is now four.  As I type she sits on my lap curled in a blanket.  It's amazing how fast children grow.  It seems like yesterday when we brought her home from the hospital.  Now she is a smiling, talking, "I'll do it myself!" kinda Gal!  She loves her big brother, princesses, playing with friends, and kicking around the soccer ball.  She dislikes food in general; unless, sugar is the first ingredient.  Yes, she is pretty remarkable and I feel so blessed that God choose me to be her mom.  I pray I can help her be a loving, kind, happy, and healthy child and then adult!

Anyhow, I wanted to share some fun we had at her birthday...  Mostly a hodge podge of Tinker Bell, Frog Princess, and Hearts!

The Snacks:
Homemade chocolate covered pretzels, hummus and red peppers, trail mix with popcorn, white chips, v-day M&M's, and raisins, princess crackers, strawberries, and blueberries....

The Cake:  Tinker Bell made with The Wilton Tinker Bell Cake Pan!  My favorite thing about making these cakes is the reaction I get from my kids when they see the finished product.  It makes it all worth the pain of mixing the icing colors and spending at least an hour decorating the cake in hopes it will resemble what it is meant to be.  My daughter said, "Wow, Mom...  this is so pretty, I love it!"

Party Favors:  Tinker Bell on the outside.  Inside there was a CD of my daughter's favorite songs (many our Lady Gaga songs - the girl has taste).  Also a Valentine craft, bracelets, a stuffed dog, and a few other treasurers only a child could love and a mom can't wait to throw away when they aren't looking.  Plus, my mom made yummy sugar cookies in heart form.  They were the size of the kiddos heads.

Game: Kiss the Frog.  Printed out a large frog, glued it to poster board and the children spun a round and tried to stick a graphic of lips on the frogs lips.

Crafts:  Make your own wand. Melissa & Doug Arts &Crafts Decorate Your Party Favors Wooden Princess Wand .

I love a good party and this one was lots of fun...  Added bonus was that the kids had fun without lots of expense.  At age four they just want to dress-up and play together!
